Not Much Travel This Year!!!

Just as the title says, we have not been able to do much traveling this year!!! We are still here at our home in Hondo, TX and it doesn’t look like we will be getting away very soon. We were scheduled to work at Sevilletta National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico starting on June 1st, however…………!

Yes, here comes the ‘however’……..near the end of May my routine blood test showed an anomaly so that meant that life had to be put on hold to make room for a lot of medical testing…..and I do mean a lot of testing!!!!’ So after a quick email of apology to Sevilletta NWR, we settled in for a long hot summer here in South Texas.

Blood work indicated “elevated liver enzymes”…….hmmmm!! Now that was immediately followed by and ultrasound of the liver, followed by an MRI, then a biopsy and finally an endoscopy……… the result:  nothing!!! That’s right after all of the worry and wondering, to say nothing of all the scheduling changes, there is nothing wrong and I am a very healthy woman and plan to stay that way!!!!

But it has not been a wasted time……….we have accomplished many of the tasks that we had scheduled for when we returned in the Fall.

The paver walkway from the coach to the front porch has been completed, large pots were purchased and filled with Lantana and Blue Daze as well as a hanging pot filled with Sweet Potato Vine.

When you have a yard full of rocks……….paint them!!!

Here’s a peek at our back yard……the closest thing to grass that this yard will ever have!!!!! Never have to mow this grass!!!

Floor tile has been purchased for my “Great Room”, and thanks to A/C we will get that done this summer too.

Sewing.bmpI have been sewing just about everyday (a bucket list thing) and the stack of quilt tops is growing taller every day. Next is to quilt them all….!!!!

Evenings are spent watching TV beside my loving hubby…… and knitting!!!! Here in the park we have a group of ladies, Busy Needles, who meet every Saturday morning to exchange ideas, gossip, and encouragement. We keep busy making baby hats and baby blankets for the local hospital and lap robes for local nursing homes.

The weather here in the summer can be summed up in one word…….HOT!!! Most days are in the mid 90’s and mid to upper 70’s at night! Outside work or exercise is done in the early AM or late evening, then the rest of the day is spent anywhere there is A/C!!!!

OK that’s all the news from here for now. Stay tuned as we may actually get away for some short trips this summer after all!

KAY-

Sorry to hear about the medical testing you had to endure but happy to learn that you're healthy! Love the landscaping and pot gardening your doing at the home place. And the sewing and knitting.
I've been in Maine almost two months and have done not much other than a little hand quilting on a antique quilt top I bought a number of years ago. I'm determined to finish it into a duvet cover without taking it back to Texas for a third time.
Glad you're doing well and keep blogging!
