Welcome Back…….

Hello, today is Saturday the 1st day of December………I can’t believe that we are on our way to Christmas already!!!!

I survived another birthday on Thursday and a great one it was! First it was biscuit and gravy breakfast at Bill and Rosa’s Cantina with the gang from the park. When we walked in they all sang Happy Birthday to me which thoroughly confused the other patrons! Then when I had to run back home for something and came back, they sang to me again but this time the others joined in!!!!

Then it was a meeting here at the Clubhouse followed by a run into San Antonio for a visit with Bill’s doctor at 1:00 pm. Then having a few minutes to spare we stopped at Discount Tire to have the tires rotated (now isn’t that every girls’ dream of a perfect birthday!).

Back in the car and the long drive back to Hondo, where instead of going home we turned south for the 20 mile drive to Devine, TX to meet with our friends Jane and Jerry, Judi, Sarah and George for a fabulous dinner at Rocky’s Grill!

There the wait staff sang to me again, then when the entertainer arrived he sang to me too! Talk about feeling special……..wow!

Now all of this celebrating was preceded by an emergency which had poor Mr. Bill in a panic……..the 6 year old battery in our car died on Wednesday! So we called the neighbors, Jane and Jerry, who were in Hondo at the time, to pickup a new battery at NAPA. No battery……..crap!!! Jerry ordered one and it would by there by 7:30 am on Thursday!! So at 7:15 am Bill and Jerry headed to Hondo to get said battery, then return and get it installed before heading to the afore mentioned breakfast at Bill and Rosa’s Cantina!!! This all sounds like an easy job……NOT! Dropped the nut and battery hold down some where in the engine, so had to “wire” the battery in place. Then on the way back from breakfast we heard a funny noise and Bill says, “there’s the hold down” so he pulled over, walked back and found the dang thing!!!! Situation now remedied……Yay!

Thank you for the wonderful birthday wishes both on face book and by email, it really made my day special.

Now the reason for the title of this post……..every year our park, Lone Star Corral, does a Welcome Back Coffee to, obviously, welcome everyone one back in the fall. But this year we are doing a brisket dinner today and I, as an Auxillary Officer along with the other 3 officers, are responsible for all the cooking and etc………………….so that will be the subject of my next post, after I rest up!!!
