Typical Week in Retirement!

After the last post Bill suggested that I add some of the events in a “typical” week here in our little community…….so here goes!!!

Let’s start with Thanksgiving and we all know how much planning and preparation goes into making a wonderful dinner for over 100 people!!!

On Friday, it was the 4:00 Social (which is every Monday, Wednesday and Friday) followed by getting all the Christmas decorations down from the attic at the Clubhouse and putting the Fall décor back into the attic!

Saturday was decorate the Clubhouse party followed by turkey noodle soup and hot turkey sandwiches with the Thanksgiving leftovers.

Sunday is Ice Cream Social for which Bill and I are chairpersons, which means on Sunday afternoon we make the run to buy the ice cream which we also serve at the 6:00 social, just before Bingo!

Monday, get the new member directory (which I have been putting together for 2 months now) to the printer. As it turned out that involved helping them set up the graphics and how to print it into a booklet!!! Then it was to the bank to make the deposits from Thanksgiving and the Leftover luncheon. Followed by a 35-40 mile run to Costco for our personal shopping!!!

Tuesday….at 9:00 am a meeting regarding By Laws and Standing Rules for our community. At 4:00 a surprise birthday party for the Asst, Mgr, Wally’s 80th birthday.

Wednesday (today) is a Hamburger Lunch at noon, then an actual afternoon off!

Thursday will be breakfast (as every Thursday) at Bill and Rosa’s Saloon and Cantina down the road in D’Hanis. Then a 10:30 meeting at the Clubhouse, followed by a 60 mile run into San Antonio to Bill’s rheumatologist appointment at 1:00. From there we drive back toward Hondo, but then south to Devine where we will celebrate my 73rd birthday at Rocky’s Diner with some friends.

Friday…..Bill has a Lot Improvement meeting in the morning and I have a whole day free….yay!!!

Saturday will be a BIG Welcome Back Dinner (again over 100 people) in the Clubhouse which has taken many phone calls and quick meetings to plan and implement. So keep your fingers crossed that it goes as well as we planned.

So you see, retirement is much the same as having a job…….we just eat more!!!!!

Just us Kids………..on the run!  stickpeoplewithitqe1
