It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas…….

IMG_6089

The holiday season is in full swing here at Lone Star Corral…..the IMG_6102Clubhouse is looking very festive and the Christmas Tree is shining brightly. Plans are well underway for a Christmas Eve party as well as a ham dinner on Christmas.

Even though it seems as though all we do here is eat, we really do other things too!

Every year we “do” Christmas for all the kids at D’Hanis Elementary School and they in turn come here to put on a Christmas program for us.

We have been gathering and making things all year long so that every child IMG_6100has 2 gifts, a new toothbrush and paste, along with the proverbial Christmas cookies. On the 21st (the last day of school) Santa’s Elves will deliver all the goodies to the kids at school. Every year there is a rush to get on the list to be an elf as this is what Christmas is all about……smiling children!!! We have to take turns and we don’t get another turn until next year….darn!

Christmas-Tree CookieA big cookie bake is planned for next Tuesday in the Clubhouse kitchen and you will always find a number of men hanging around at that time hoping for a chance at the “broken” cookies. Not only do we bake cookies for the elves to deliver, we also make cookies to be served with punch when all the kids come here perform for us here in the Clubhouse! That’s for 161 kids, 2 cookies each, for the program then for elf delivery……..you do the math!!!!

Yesterday we drove into San Antonio to attend the “Holiday in Blue” concert by the United States Air Force Band of the West. airforce_emb_n6428Fabulous……! I quote from the program…”The United States Air Force Band of the West is a musical organization with an outstanding record of achievement. The Airmen assigned to the band are highly trained and professional musicians who have dedicated themselves to serving their country through music.”  The concert was great and to see all the Airmen in formal uniform is quite a sight.

As you can see we are getting into the Christmas spirit, decorating our little home and motorhome is in full swing (pix later). Hope the holiday spirit is hitting you too.

Just Us Kids………...chasing the Grinch away!  grinch

Hello again...Always happy to have an update on what's going on at LSC. Looks like a lot of fun (work too!), and I'll bet the kids love it. I'm in the recovery process of a nasty upper respitory illness, and putting the finishing touches on our Christmas in North Idaho too. Take care, and keep posting please! Lilli
