New Orleans

Today we headed down to New Orleans for a bit of sightseeing. The last time we were here was about 5 years ago and thought we would check out the changes after all the hurricane damage.

It was really cold and everyone was bundled up like we were somewhere in the Midwest.

We found a parking place and headed into the French Quarter which appears to be the same as 5 years ago.

The carriages are still carrying tourists around the area.

Cafe du Monde is still selling those wonderful beignets covered with powdered sugar.

While we were enjoying our “breakfast” at Cafe du Monde we were entertained by a “street jazz quartet”

Having satisfied our sweet tooth we just started strolling and checking out the shops in the French Quarter. I love all the signs…..

…..and the t-shirts!!!! I wanted to get the ketchup one for Bill but he stated emphatically that he would never wear it!!! Oh well…

I thought this one really hit home in New Orleans!

We worked up an appetite (again) with all our walking, so it was time for lunch and a muffuletta sandwich at the Central Grocery. They have been making those fabulous sandwiches with olive and veggie relish since 1906.

Love the architecture and always amazed at how narrow the streets are in the French Quarter. Love the balconies…..can you picture the Mardi Gras revelers tossing beaded necklaces?

It was a fun day but it was good to get back to the motor home and warm up again. It is supposed to be in the mid 20s tonight, but the worst part is the wind……..it’s really raw and cold!!

Hi Kay & Bill

What is olive relish? Never heard of it but we love most anything with olives.

Sounds like you are having a good time.

Safe travels.

I also love all the signs. Keep posting them! Someday you can make a book out of all of them.

Was very cold here last few days. I think its going to be 50 today. Whew!
