We left Hammond, LA on Wednesday and headed east on I12, then picked up I10 again through Mississippi.
The drive is interesting as the highway is built mostly over swamp and bayou, so it is a long series of bridges with varying amounts of water beneath them.
Into Alabama and the Mobile area……
On I10 we passed through this tunnel in downtown Mobile…
…then back onto the bridges again!!!
Through the windshield I caught a couple of shots of the USS Alabama (retired) which is open for tours.
Did the tour a few years ago and may do it again, time permitting.
Then across the bay to Hwy 59 south………..
The Plantation at Summerdale, AL……
….where we will stay for about 2 weeks before completing our trek into Okefenokee NWR in SE Georgia.
The weather was still below freezing at night when we arrived so never even hooked up the water hoses, as they would just freeze. We always have water in our tank so that was not a problem, just postponed showers till morning when it’s above freezing again.
Today is Sunday and last night was the first night since arriving here in AL that it did not drop below freezing at night and the weather forecast is for fairly nice weather the next few days……yeah!!!
Just Us Kids………still headin’ east!!!

Here's hoping for warmer weather for y'all. Its 50 here and the sun isn't really up yet. Of course that just means its going to rain some more. So what sort of fun things do you do at the Rainbow?
Michelle & girls
The Rainbow is actually an Escapees Rainbow RV Park called "The Plantation". The fun things we do here are laundry, coach and car maintenance, sight-seeing in the area, and of course grocery shopping!!! Just the usual things.........!!! It is warming up finally, no longer freezing at night!
