Everyone Loves a Flea Market

Our little park, Lone Star Corral, here in Hondo, TX hosts a Flea Market and Craft Sale, open to the public, every year as a fund raiser for the park. This year it was a huge success due to all the hard work of all the volunteers, it was also a lot of fun.

IMG_9396 The capable kitchen crew (not all are in the photo) starts serving breakfast burritos and cinnamon rolls at 7:00 AM and then starts serving lunch at 10:30 AM. Over the years they have perfected the kitchen routine and once again it all ran smoothly.

Another huge success was the bake sale….we all contribute a baked item and all proceeds go to the park and is always the biggest money-maker of the entire event!

This year Bill was in charge of all the door prizes, which included finding and purchasing just the right prizes, organizing a crew to hand out all the tickets, then calling the winning numbers and presenting prizes to  the winners. He did all of this right after he helped cook all the eggs for the breakfast burritos at 5:30 AM!!

Wow…………what a guy!!!!

Another of the big sellers this year was smoked turkey legs perfectly cooked by Chuck! Yum-yummy!!

Here are some of the items I had up for sale…….and most of them sold for a nice little profit. Might have to treat Bill to dinner!

It was a great day and we are very tired, but pleased with our success. Tonight we are just relaxing and resting  our tired feet.

How fun! I love the bag with the flowers embroidered on it. Did you make that? I always enjoy a flea market.

Oh Bill and Kay! How we miss you all and the activities that we were privileged to enjoy last year. The Hondo Christmas parade is coming up or was it this weekend too....It was a year ago Veterans' Day that we headed off for our inagural RV Boot Camp in Livingston. Seems like ages ago...me, too...whenever I see a vet it is always with a smile and thank you...most seemed surprised that someone would stop and say thank you. Hey, Keep up the cooking, Bill, you are full of energy and surprises!
