Saturday we took a drive to see the countryside around Sutherlin, OR and found the Rochester Covered Bridge over the Calapooya River.
Our Suzi couldn’t resist driving over the bridge.
The Calapooya River
We continued wandering the back roads and found the historic town of Oakland just a few miles down the road from the covered bridge.
Oakland is fantastic and we had a great time just wandering around taking pictures of all the great old buildings.
Now an antique store
Still open and in full operation
This has been converted to a private residence….what a great place to live!
Door in alley looks like it is right out of the Prohibition Days…. knock 3 times, “Bruno sent me”!
Every town has to have at least one tavern!!
Interesting architecture all around town.
Bill found this old barn on the edge of town.
Who can resist a Farmers’ Market?
….where we met Mrs. Pothead……
……and the rest of the Pothead family.
Also found some interesting looking tomatoes.
A couple of great houses in Oakland.
We stepped into a deli/coffeehouse for a cold drink
and found this beautiful handmade quilt hanging on the wall.
We had a good time wandering around the back roads around Sutherlin……………I think we will do it again tomorrow!!
Just Us Kids………out exploring.
