As planned we awoke early Monday the 28th excited to get on the road at long last. We did all the normal tasks necessary to readying the coach and car for moving, including a “light check” of all driving lights on both the coach and the car. This is when we discovered that the right rear turn signal on the car is not working!!! So after checking everything we could, we decided to just go for it!!!
So off we went and less than a mile away from Swallows Park Bill had to swerve to avoid a car and “grazed” a light pole, which of course left it’s imprint on the right rear corner of the coach and the right front fender of the car!!!!!
So after reporting our “mishap” to the Clarkston Police, we once again set out on the road, wondering what else could possibly go wrong!!!
We held our breath and headed to Oregon….soon began to relax and enjoy the scenery around us. The trip west on I 84 along the Columbia River never gets old and there is always something new to see.
We spent that night in a truck plaza in Rice Hill, OR before going into Grants Pass, OR and Henderson Line-up on Tuesday AM. They took it for a test drive and it was determined that the steering gear box needs to be either rebuild or replaced and motion control valves were needed to help with the sway problem. However, they could not rebuild or get another steering box for a week so we passed on that until we get to Texas, but had the motion control valves installed. As soon as we were back on the road we noticed an immediate improvement in the ride…………….it’s a good thing!!!!
As we did not spend as much time at Henderson’s as we had planned, we headed for Lassen Volcanic National Park for a little much needed R&R ……………………….more about Lassen later!!!!
