Greetings from the road………….we are now in Farmington, NM for 2 nights. The trip here was exciting at times and boring at other times, so I will tell you about both.
We stayed in Fallon, NV at the Naval Air Station for 3 nights and used the time to catch up on the laundry and grocery shopping while there. We also used the time to just rest up!!!
We left Fallon on Sunday AM and headed eastward on Hwy 50, commonly known as the “loneliest highway in the USA” and for good reason!!!! For many, many miles there is absolutely nothing but sagebrush and highway……………
…with the occasional different sight!
But the most exciting part of the trip was coming over the mountain passes from Eureka, NV and east of Ely, NV where it snowed big time. Luckily none of it stuck to the road, just the windshield and everything else.
Main street of Ely, NV
We stayed at this Jailhouse Motel in Ely, NV many years ago on a motorcycle trip
This is the “scenic route”?
We had to speed up to get to 35 mph!!
But after we got down out of the mountain passes, it was back to the long boring roads.
We stayed in a rest area on I70 and awoke to 34 degrees, but dry!
When we left I70 we headed south through Moab, UT and our favorite little town, Bluff, UT, where we stayed last spring on our way north.
The rest of the trip into Farmington was uneventful and we are resting and watching TV to catch up on the news.
On Wednesday AM we will head into Albuquerque and the Balloon Fiesta.
