A Day in Farmington, NM

We spent today sightseeing and shopping in Farmington, actually we did more shopping than sight-seeing!!! The last time we were in Farmington was 6 years ago and had visited “Fifth Generation Trading Company”, so we decided it was worth another visit. Last time we bought a great piece of “horsehair” pottery and a pair of turquoise earrings, and this trip we bought another piece of “horsehair” pottery and another pair of earrings!!! Hmmmm!!

This is the new piece, note the horsehair that is “thrown” onto the pot as it is fired.

It joins the piece we purchased while visiting Monument Valley earlier this year.

The flash makes the stones look different, but they are the same in both earrings. Tigers Eye, turquoise, and jasper.

We also visited the Shiprock Trading Company and drooled over the fabulous Navajo rugs that we can’t afford.

They also sell the yarns and looms so you can weave your own rug.

Bill finally pulled me away from the rugs and we walked down the street to a quilt shop.

Note the phone number!!

After all that shopping and wandering around town, it was time for a late lunch at “Si Senor”.

Si Senor

In New Mexico the “state question” is “red or green”? Bill had the green sauce on his burrito and I had the red on my enchilada!!

Tonight is rest up night as tomorrow we head to the Balloon Fiesta!!!

Just us Kids……………. Hands of Man ..….….out shopping!!

I love the pots! Hey, that yarn looks like stuff I've dyed! Haven't done it in a while, but sounds like a good idea! Looks like a neat place to visit.
