We have been here in Clarkston for a few days and have spent most of our time driving around between Clarkston, WA and Lewiston, ID (just across the river). We are amazed at all the new growth in both cities and sadly some of the old places we knew are no longer there, but that’s progress.
Wednesday we went to Lewis Clark State College (that’s where I worked for 4 years after we left Seattle in 2000) to see if there was anyone we would recognize. We were very surprised to see many old face as well as many new faces, but even more surprised that everyone remembered us!!!! What was to be a “walk-through” the campus ended in a several hour visit with old friends.
Today we again went to the campus, primarily to attend “Art Under The Elms” held every year on campus as part of the area-wide “Dogwood Festival”. My interest is mainly in the craft vendors and was not disappointed, there were many great ideas to be gathered there today. Again today we visited with more old friends on campus. Lewiston was and still is a great place to live!!!!
Tomorrow we are heading to Seattle to see all the kids, and to hold Allese, finally. She was born while we have been on the road and Great Grandma has not been able to hold her yet, but I will remedy that this weekend!!!!
We met with the folks at the Corps of Engineers office and we are looking forward to working with them. We will move the coach to the volunteer spot at Swallows Marina on Thursday AM, then we will do orientation find out what our duties will be. I can tell you now that the RV site we are going into is great……right on the Snake River!!!
More next time and then I will have pix of the area and the river.
