We can now check off another adventure on our list of “things to do and places to see” list! We have been full-timing now for almost 5 years and this is the first time we have been to Quartzsite, AZ during the “Big Tent Show” in January. That involves “boon docking” out in the desert and fighting thousands of other RVer’s to see what the vendors have to offer in the Big Tent as well as the thousands of other vendors throughout the entire town of Quartzsite. Actually, it is one big “flea market”, if you can’t find it here, it doesn’t exist!!!!

We stayed at LaPosa South (BLM land) which has the only dump station and potable water in the area, so daily there is a lineup of RV’s waiting to dump and re-fill their water tanks. Everywhere you looked there is a huge variety of motor homes, 5th wheels, trailers, tents, bus conversions, and some rigs that defy categorization.
The weather was great, cool at night and upper 70’s during the day. The sunrises and sunsets are absolutely fantastic, photos cannot capture the beauty.

Our Escapees Club had a “happy hour” gathering hosted by Denny and Suzy Orr, which was spread out over two days. We attended the first day along with about 400 other SKPs and our friends, Bonnie and Ed Mason from Hondo, TX. We visited with folks we had met at various times and places along the road, including Shari Haywood, also from Lone Star Corral in Hondo, TX. Everyone brought a snack to share and we were entertained by a quartet of SKPs.

We took a day away from the chaos in Quartzsite and drove to Bouse, AZ to visit our friends, Ginny and Bob Rada, whom we met at Wildwood Recreation Area in Oregon in 2007. They have property there and are awaiting the arrival of their new manufactured home. They still travel and volunteer in Oregon each summer, but now call Bouse home in the winter.

It has been an interesting experience here in Quartzsite, much like our motorcycle days when we went to Sturgis, SD. It's fun to visit but I sure wouldn't want to live here!!
We will be leaving here in the next day or two and heading down to the Yuma area. We hope to get into the Army Proving Ground RV Park, but if not we will go into Yuma to Kofa SKP Park or who knows???? It’s time for a really long, hot shower and do a lot of laundry! We plan to be there about a month or so, then perhaps North Ranch at Casa Grande, AZ , but will let you know in a future posting.
