The Sandhills are here!!!!!

Sandhill Cranes are here, flocks of them, stopping to feed in the fields around us on their migration route. It is truly a wonderful sight to see……and to hear!!! When they swarm, either taking off or landing, you can listen the chatter and it only adds to the wonder of Mother Nature.

My pictures are not the greatest as there was a very tall wire fence between my camera and the cranes as well as a camera lens that was not long enough to capture the real size of these cranes. They are gray in color with a red “mask” on the face and they stand about 4 foot tall! Beautiful!!!!!

On the same day, the Fiddlers were here too!!!

The Fiddlers come to Lone Star Corral twice a season to entertain us as well as to entertain themselves. It is a fun day, filled with music. The guitarist in front is Ron Erkert, a member of our little community. Thanks, Ron, for many hours of entertainment.

It has been cold here for about 2 weeks, actually got down to freezing a couple of nights!!! Yes, I know what you are thinking, but this is South Texas and freezing is not normal here!!! So we put the shorts away and dug out the long pants and jackets till the weather warms up again!!! I hope that is real soon!!!

Just Us Kids………….Brrrrrrrrr!
