We left Hondo, TX T 8:00 am on Monday, April 23rd and arrived in Ravensdale, WA at about 2:00 pm……whew, that’s a record for us.
We spent the first night in a rest area between Roswell and Vaughn, NM, the second night at a truck stop in Salina, UT, and the third night a rest area north of Baker City, OR.
First day out we stopped at a rest area for a stretch and “walk-about”, met some fellow travelers from Ontario, Canada. We decided to have lunch while we were stopped so joined Wil and Helena Nielson and traded stories of our travels. This is so typical of our many travels over the almost 9 years, we meet wonderful people with great stories to tell and this has always been my favorite part of our travels.
This trip started in sunshine all the way from Texas up to Oregon, then the rain started and has not stopped yet!!! But this is Seattle in the spring and this is why Washington is called the Evergreen State!!!! However, daffodils, azaleas, and fruit trees are all in full bloom. Lilacs are everywhere, scenting the air with the most heavenly perfume.
We are set for the next few months and have lots of kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren to hug. We are definitely more than a quart low on hugs, so we will try to make up this summer.
Hope all of our fellow traveling neighbors in Hondo are having a good time also.
