More from the Okefenokee Fire

Here are some pictures of the Honey Prairie Fire that is currently burning in Okefenokee Swamp. It is still increasing in size and because it is in the swamp it cannot be fought in the usual manner.

This picture is of the original fire on May 1st…………

Ash is falling everywhere. This is the hood of our car after 15 minutes.

The fire has now spread over 50,000 acres and is still heading our way, so we will may leaving here sooner than we had planned……....along with the rest of the volunteers. But the fire crew here is excellent, so we are trusting them!

Nice to see pictures. Too bad that fire is going to burn out much of that beautiful land! Do you have your running shoes on? Maybe it will rain and put the fire out. You can have some of ours, its been raining here for days and days.
