January 1st of 2010 found us at Aransas NWR near Rockport, TX working a volunteer gig. While there we got the news that we have another great-grandson, Carson, the pride and joy of his parents, Matt and Erika and sister, Alese!!! He is just the greatest!!!
We left Aransas in mid-January and headed to Lone Star Corral in Hondo, TX. Bill was having trouble with his rheumatoid arthritis, so it was time for an infusion treatment, which brought his RA back into remission again.
We quickly settled into the routine of events at Lone Star Corral and all our friends kept us very busy during our stay. We enjoyed many meals at Bill and Rosa’s Saloon as well as other “fine dining” spots in the area.
In March I had emergency surgery to remove my gall bladder and that made my life so much more pleasant!!!
In early April while riding my bicycle around the park, I was waving at friends instead of watching where I was going, and went “a$$ over teakettle” in the gravel!!! Ouch! Broke my glasses, bloodied a number of places on my body and face , but undaunted, Igot up and rode my bicycle home!!! So I got new glasses, healed up and started riding again……but no more waving while riding!!!!
We headed out on April 17th and started another big adventure, this time to Alaska. We have been all around the lower 48 but this was our first trip that far north in the motor home. Along the way we made stops in Loveland, CO to visit family and again in Livingston, MT to meet friends for another trip into Yellowstone Park. From there it was into Canada, to Edmonton, Alberta and then west to Alaska. It was all we expected and more, the adventure of a lifetime.
In mid-July we got back to the lower 48 and planned to stay a couple of weeks in Seattle area to visit our kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, but stayed 2-1/2 months instead! When the weather started getting nasty it was back to Lone Star Corral in Hondo, TX for warmer weather.
Now that the Holiday’s are over for another year, we are looking forward to 2011. The plans so far, but always subject to change, are to be in Folkston, GA at Okefenokee NWR for a volunteer gig from February 1st through May. Then northward to Michigan and then west to Seattle area for the summer. We plan to be back at Lone Star Corral in October or early November. So stayed tuned for pictures and stories of our adventures at Okie NWR and on the road.
We are excited about 2011 and hope we all have a great year!!
Just Us Kids…………..looking ahead!
