It’s December already………..is it my imagination or do the years go faster as you grow older? They sure seem to be going fast for us.
But we are still busy here in the park , now we are preparing for Christmas. It has been a tradition here at Lone Star Corral to provide Christmas for all the children in the elementary school in D’Hanis, TX. It is a “financially challenged” area and so we do our best to bring Christmas cheer to all the children from Kindergarten through 6th Grade.
Therefore stockings must be sewn, toys made and purchased, candies gathered and of course, Christmas cookies must be baked! All of this must be “age appropriate”. It is a lot of work but delivering the goodies is the best part…………watching the happy, excited kids will warm any Grinch’s heart!!! And guess what……I will be one of the delivery “elves” this year…..yay!!!!!
Bill has completed the plumbing project in the Clubhouse laundry, which after all the planning really took very little time. But then that is what Bill did for many years before retirement….design and install commercial plumbing systems!!! The original installation many years ago was not done properly, leaving a very unpleasant sewer gas smell in the laundry. But that is all gone now, so Bill is a hero in the park!!!
We are also starting the departure process, which means doing maintenance on the coach and packing away all the things we have been using during our stay here, as we will be leaving Hondo after the 1st of the New Year, heading eastward. We will sightsee along the way to SE Georgia and Okefenokee NWR, with stops in New Orleans, Foley, AL , and Pensacola, FL . We start at Okefenokee on February 1st for a 4 month volunteer stint at one of our favorite places in the the entire USA. I will be able to post tons of new pictures then…….alligators, snakes and turtles!!!
The weather has been up and down……wonderfully warm one day in shorts and T’s….then all bundled up the next. But that is winter in Texas……….still better than snow, thank you!!!!
All for now………..thanks for watching!
