This blog is out of order as I found out that using public WiFi is not always reliable as I thought this had published…….but it didn’t. So here it is anyway!!!
The last 3 days have been a whirlwind of activity, and today (Wednesday) is a work day, i.e.; laundry, etc. Also time to catch our breath.
On Sunday , June 13, we met up with our friend, Donna, and she has been very busy pointing out all the things we need to see and the places we need to visit here in the Anchorage and Wasilla area……….and there is a lot to see. We originally planned to stay here a week before moving on, but Donna has told us of so many things to see that we are extending for another week!!!
We met up with Donna at the Anchorage Market at about noon on Sunday and made plans for when she is done working at the Market.
That’s Donna “educating” folks on the art of “sap sucking” and producing fabulous products from the sap. She markets (and helps to make the syrup) products made from birch sap. All kinds of syrups, candies, jams, etc. Great stuff!!! More about this later…..
We looked around the market then had salmon quesadilla for lunch………yummy!!!!
Of course there was one booth dedicated to continuing the feud between Texas and Alaska!!!!
Then we used our trusty map and found Costco to do some shopping before finding our way back to Fort Richardson and home.
Donna came over after work to visit and we mapped out our Monday sightseeing adventure.
Monday…..
Donna picked us up at 10:00 AM and off we went……..first stop was Earthquake Park. What an education………
(Click on pix to enlarge, making them easier to read.)
……the earthquake caused enough damage, but the tsunami that followed was equally as devastating.

We then drove to the airport……now there is a regular airport and then there is the small plane and floatplane airport….that is where we visited!!
This one was taxiing down the road right next to us!
A huge variety of planes and so many of them, since this is the major mode of transportation in Alaska.
We had a late lunch at Gwennie’s, one of the oldest restaurants in Anchorage.
By now we are on overload so we called it a day and went home to just visited for a while.
Tuesday we did it all again……………..
Just us kids……………
