….and more Anchorage……..

Wednesday, June 16th…………….

Today was a ‘catch your breath” day and spent it doing laundry and I made a big pot of stew…..yummy!!!

Thursday, the 17th…………….

We headed into Anchorage and the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum. It is located on Lake Hood where all the float planes are moored, not far from downtown Anchorage.

Interesting vehicle for moving planes around!!!

The museum is a great history lesson on the importance of small planes to the development of Alaska, both in the past and today.

There are very few roads or highways in Alaska so flying is the only way to travel anywhere!!

This Grumman Goose has been beautifully restored and is still flown on special occasions.

We sat on the lakeshore for a long time just watching the float plane traffic take-off and land on the lake.

Magnificent backdrop….. Anchorage is surrounded by the most beautiful, rugged snow-topped mountains.

After the museum we stopped by my kind of store…….yep, had to buy more beads!!!!

Picked up a few things at the Commissary and settled in for a quiet evening of rest and relaxation.

Just us Kids……still roaming around Anchorage!
