On Monday, May 24th we were in Cardston, Alberta at the Lee Creek Campground which is a city park located right next to the Remmington Carriage Museum. The museum is the reason we stopped here as Bill has always wanted to see the collection of carriages.
The museum is from a collection of carriages collected by a gentleman named Don Remmington which he donated to the Province of Alberta. There are over 250 carriages and wagons in the collection in various stages of completion…..some restored and others are left as they were found.
The museum depicts the importance of the horse (as well as oxen and cattle) drawn carriages, sleighs, and wagons.
There are utilitarian carts and wagons as well as fancy carriages fit to carry the Queen of England.

After the museum we drove to Waterton Lakes Provincial Park which is the Canadian side of Glacier National Park.
The skies clouded over so our mountain shots are not really clear so you will have to take my word for how awesome the mountains are.
We followed a river down into Red Rock Canyon and there Bill practiced his photography skills.
Balsam flowers as well as other wildflowers were everywhere.
One of the major attractions in the park is the Prince of Wales Hotel which as been here since the 1930’s. It was not open yet for the season so no photos of the fabulous interior.

We left Cardston the next morning and that will be the subject of my next blog chronicling our Alaska Adventure……stay tuned!!

By golly, looks like you guys are having a great time! I would have loved that carriage museum. Sure is beautiful country.
