As noted in our previous posts we left Hondo, TX after a 3-1/2 month stay and are now on the road slowly making our way to Alaska for the summer.
We stopped in Fredericksburg, TX and visited the Wildseed Farm…..check out all the flowers in the last 2 postings.
From there we headed to San Angelo, TX and the Goodfellow AFB Recreation Area for 3 nights. We visited everyday with friends we met while on the road in Arizona, Marcia and Jim, who have been living in San Angelo for the last 6 months.
Bill with Marcia
Jim with Sadie
We toured the site of Fort Concho which was a major cavalry outpost in the late 1800’s.
Enlisted men’s quarters
Headquarters Building
Schoolhouse
Yesterday Jim and Marcia took us to the San Angelo Riverwalk on the Concho River……….what a beautiful place!
One of many ducks….
A Blue Heron on her nest…
Turtles basking in the sunshine…….
Cormorant……
A beautiful Texas Star….
We had a great time with Marcia and Jim and we enjoyed San Angelo. They are heading for Alaska this summer also and hopefully we can meet up again with them while we are there.
