October was a very interesting if not frustrating month!!!
As you know from our previous posts, we had an “encounter” with a light post in Clarkston, WA and we had a continuing steering problem with the coach. All of which we planned to take care of during the month of October.
On our way south from Washington State we made a side trip to Grants Pass, OR to get the steering fixed. We were told that we needed a new steering control box or rebuild the old one as that is our problem. Due to time constraints we opted to have the work done in San Antonio, TX when we got there!!!
But first we went to Albuquerque and the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, and if you have read my past posts know that it was fantastic!!!
Then it was straight to Hondo, TX to renew old friendships and most of all, do laundry!!!!
On Monday the 19th of October we took the coach and car to Iron Horse RV in San Antonio for the necessary repairs and get the steering fixed. As we walked up to the service desk the owner, Darrell, stopped us and asked if we were having any problem with the coach wandering down the highway? We told him that’s what we are here for…….a new steering box! He told us we didn’t need a new steering box, the ride height valve just needs to be adjusted, which they did immediately and fixed the problem in less than 15 minutes!!!! What a relief!!!!
Next was the nightmare of waiting for the insurance authorization to get the “boo boo” repaired!!! We stayed at Iron Horse RV in their back lot for a full week before they were able to take the coach into the shop, at which time we had to move to a motel and leave our home for 3 days and nights!!!!
Finally on Friday, October 30th the call came……..our coach is ready and we can move back home!!! So we happily signed all the necessary papers, paid the deductible, and drove to Hondo again to resume our “vacation”!!
We arrived in time for the Halloween party on Saturday, visit with all our friends, and get in on the planning of upcoming events for November. We are looking forward to a month of relaxation and fun before heading to Aransas National Wildlife Refuge on December 1st.
