Hard to believe that we are already in our last month here at Wheeler NWR. The weather has been gradually cooling (thank goodness) making walking and sitting outside so much more comfortable. But the days are getting shorter, but they are still filled with sunshine.
We have become busier at the Visitor's Center as we have begun "winter" hours, which means 9 AM to 5 PM everyday. I also have more hours now that it is busier, which is good as I have become way too used to "the life of leisure". Bill is still helping with the mowing, etc as well as working with me in the VC on Sat and Sun. More visitor traffic also and that makes that days go fast.
We have not been doing anything exciting lately, just taking advantage of the cooler weather to catch up on some "chores". Bill sorted and cleaned out the lower bays, and found a couple things he thought we had lost along the way. Wow! I have been cleaning and sorting in cupboards and closets inside the coach, if it hasn't been used in a year...........out it goes!!!!! It's amazing how many things we have been toting around and not using!!! We will probably get better fuel mileage now that we are "lighter"!
Our friends from the road, Bob and Jackie Miller, have stopped here in Decatur to visit on their way south. We are working more hours now but there is always time to visit with old friends.
When we leave here we are going to Yellville, AK to visit Joe and Lou Hatcher, more friends from the road. Then we are back to San Antonio for a month or two.......!
