The weather here in Decatur is finally cooling some, making it pleasant to sit outside in the shade. Today I took advantage of my time off and the great weather to sit outside and just enjoy life. We are in such a beautiful setting with the Tennessee River on one side and trees, trees, and more trees all around us.
While sitting out there, with my camera by my side, I watched baby squirrels who evidently have been living in the attic of the old refuge residence house not far from our coach. As they ran in and out of the attic through the vent I managed to get a couple of shots before they noticed I was there and went inside for the day!!!
Behind our coach is a bluebird house which has been vacant since we arrived August 1st. But today there were some "looky-loos" checking it out, possibly for residency in the Spring.
We have only a couple of weeks left here at Wheeler NWR and will be leaving on November 3rd. We are going to Yellville, AR to visit Joe and Lou Hatcher for a few days before heading to San Antonio for a month or two. (Joe and Lou, this is your warning!!!) We are getting anxious to be on the road again and are looking forward seeing our friends in Yellville and in San Antonio.
