Christmas is over, the parties have been cleared away and now it’s time to get ready for the New Year. We say it every year, but here goes again….”I can’t believe how fast this year has disappeared”!! And yes, the older we get the faster they disappear, of that I am sure!!!
We celebrated Christmas Eve with a party at the Clubhouse with about 65 –70 folks in attendance. We sang carols, we dined on fabulous “finger” foods prepared by all who attended, then we played a gift exchange game. Everyone brings a gift, then they are opened, one by one, and you can open a gift or “steal” another already opened gift that struck your fancy. Last night the most popular and most stolen gifts were wine and lotto tickets. I ended up with lotto tickets and actually won $2.00 on one of them, which is amazing as I never have any luck in any gambling endeavor.
I was the “MC” for the evening and since public speaking is not my thing and although I was very anxious beforehand it really was a lot of fun. Which just proves that you can do anything you set your mind to do. I have had a lot of positive feedback so perhaps maybe I have a new calling!
Christmas morning was quiet at our house and after the hectic schedule we have had the last week or so it was the best gift of all. Then it was time to get ready for dinner at the Clubhouse with about 115 other folks who are here to escape the winter weather in the north. The dinner was great, but the main topic of conversation was the weather and how we all came here to stay warm in the sunshine but…………….not this year!!!! It’s cold and rainy and looks to be that way for at least another week!!
So now with the holidays almost over, we can concentrate in our building project and getting the Ranchita ready for electricity…….yay!!!
Our Christmas was good and now it is time to start walking more and eating less, as eat seems to be all we did this weekend. Hope yours was good too and all too soon we will be planning for next Christmas again.
