We arrived in Minot on the 16th of June to attend my brother, Bob, and his wife, Ardis’, 50th Anniversary Party.
The first thing we found was water everywhere! The Souris (or Mouse) River had overflowed it’s banks and threatened to flood parts of Minot. In fact we were very lucky to find a RV spot in the one RV park that was not covered in standing water, our neighbors were flood-displaced homeowners and oil field workers. It was not idyllic but would work for a couple of days.
That night we gathered with the rest of the family for a BBQ at my niece, Sarah’s home which they had just finished remodeling.
Spent Friday with my sister, Sandy and her husband, John, catching up on all the news. Then it was time to get ready to party…………..
This is my older brother, Bob and his wife, Ardis, celebrating 50 years of wedded bliss!!
Posing with their 5 children: from the left…..Sarah, Lee, Stefanie, Bob, Ardis, Becki, and Scott.
Siblings from left: Sandy,me, Bob and wife Ardis, and Richard.
Sister Sandy, cousins Joanne and Karen, Aunt Lois, and me
High school friends, Clare and Russell
We had a great time with all the family and friends, I’m sure we did a good job of helping Bob and Ardis celebrate their anniversary. Many more years, Bob and Ardis!!!
We did more visiting with Sandy and John and other old friends for another day then headed west again, which turned out to be just in time!!!
Now the sad news………..I’m sure you have all seen the news of all the terrible flooding in Minot, but for our family it is not just pictures on the TV. there had been some flooding before we arrived but a couple of days after we left the river went wild. As I mentioned earlier we had dinner at Sarah’s newly remodeled home, but now it is totally underwater!!! And my Aunt Lois’ home is also flooded along with many other homes in Minot and surrounding areas. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
We made a stop in Clarkston, WA to visit with friends there before heading to Seattle for the summer. We are now all settled in and ready to spend time with our kids, grands and greats!!!! It will be a great summer!!

Hey ? for you - are you going to Blaine or Birch Bay by chance? If so, you wouldn't have room to bring back the doors to our jeep would you? Just hoping - don't really expect you to be able to do that. But as they say, it never hurts to ask.
Hope you are having a good 4th of July celebrating with friends and family.
