Today Bill and I had Visitor/Rove duty…….! What does that mean? It means that we drive around in an electric cart all day pointing out the sights to visitors to Okefenokee NWR. I know it’s a tough job but somebody has to do it!!!!
Here are some of the “sights” we found to share with visitors:
Deer out at the Homestead
At this pond on Swamp Island Drive we counted 8 alligators, all sunning themselves on the banks. Some were babies, but most were in the 4-5 foot range.
……one more of baby…..
Yellow Bellied Slider or Cooter Turtle………
Down the drive a bit we found this fellow…….
Then we spotted this mama with one of her babies on her back!
Isn’t he cute?
A squirrel…..
A butterfly…..
“Neverwets”
It was a great day…… seeing the sights and visiting with folks. Then about 3:00 the dark clouds rolled in and severe storm warnings were broadcast. So we packed up our binoculars and cameras and headed for the safety of our motor home. We got home just before the clouds opened and dumped a torrent of rain, accompanied by lots of thunder and lightning. It was really exciting, especially since we were home and dry!!!
Tomorrow we are both scheduled for the Homestead so I will make the next blog about that very interesting place…….and of course with pictures!!
Just Us Kids……..workin’ and playin’ in the swamp!!!!

My favorite picture is the one of the baby alligators on the sand. They are so cute! I bet they bite like their mom though.....
