We’ve been here now for almost 2 weeks and have not had a chance to get out and take any new pictures, but I will soon.
The weather has not been the greatest, it has been cold with freezing many nights, but it still is not as bad as the rest of the country has been experiencing, so I won’t complain……too much!! Last night it rained all night……buckets of rain!!! The water level here at Okefenokee NWR has been really low actually drought low, so the rain is a good think……but still not fun to be running around outside as Bill does with his tasks.
I am working in the Visitor’s Center and most everything came back to me very quickly. I was afraid I would not remember all I had learned when we were here in 2008…..but guess the old memory is not as bad as I fear at times. I am also taking a Certified Interpretive Guide course, which is really taxing my brain. It’s been a long time since I took classes that involved role-playing and everyone has to do a 10 minute presentation on Feb. 25th using the “skills” we are supposed to be learning in the class. I will let you know the results at the end of the month.
Bill is back as a guide at the Chesser Island Homestead as well as doing some maintenance tasks. Next month the visitor traffic increases so he will be out there all of our 3 work days a week. Hopefully the weather will be better then too so we can get out and get some new pictures of the gators and other critters here in the swamp.
As I mentioned we only work 3 days a week so the other 4 days we are free to wander the area. One of things we want to do is visit Cumberland Island this trip, but we will wait till it warms up a bit.
Next blog hope to have new pictures of Oke NWR to share with you, so stay tuned!!!

Hi guys, really storming here at the moment. I can't wait for the sun to come back as I need to clear my garden out and get it ready for spring. I hope it suns there too. Can't wait to see new pictures.
