Last Tuesday we got up early and headed out to the Western Washington State Fair in Puyallup, WA. This fair is the the 14th largest fair in the US which never ceases to amaze us and back when we lived in Seattle it was an annual event!
We were joined there by Angie and her gang.
L to R: Eri (Jessie’s friend), Jessie (granddaughter), Bill, Angie (daughter), and Joey (the ‘cool’ grandson)
I love the veggie displays and always spend a lot of time here just looking and taking pictures.
Works of art done in veggies!
This one is my favorite!!!
The Light of My Life with the Fair’s largest pumpkin!!!
We stopped to visit with our friends, Donna and Roger, from Alaska, in their vendor booth.
Donna with her brother, Chuck, who was recruited to help at the Fair this year.
Then it was off to see some of the farm animals…..!
After visiting the barns, we headed to the Arts and Crafts, where we found Jessie’s drawing on display. Of course we all voted it as “Best of Show”! Good job, Jessie!!!!
Then it was on to the quilts…………another of my favorite places! There were so many beautiful, yummy quilts that is was hard to pick a favorite.
Speaking of yummy……..during the day we indulged in some of our favorite ‘fair’ foods, such as onion burgers, raspberry scones, and strawberry shortcake……….ummmm good!!!
Yes, there were the many rides, but at our age we pretty much avoid those!!!! But the kids had a ball and we didn’t see them for hours!!!
We did take in the Draft Horse Show, always one of my favorites. Such massive, gentle giants.
Scattered all around the grounds were these massage stations, but none of them were for total body massages which is what I needed after walking all day!!
It was a long day, but a fun day. We got to spend time with the kids and see our friends, Donna and Roger, and to reminisce about all the times we attended this same fair when we were young…………..and didn’t get so tired!!!!
Just Us Kids at the Fair………….!
