Texas Wildflowers and Other Sites

Today the sun was shining and it was time to get out of the house. So we forgot the laundry, the coach cleaning, and the car washing and went for a ride on some of the back roads of Texas.

It’s Spring and the trees are in bloom and so are the cactus.

Scattered throughout the Hill Country of Texas are “exotic game” ranches. I wish I knew what these animals are, but I don’t have a clue! They are about the size of small reindeer, but run like an antelope.

Bill spotted this great old wagon.

Almost every ranch in Texas has an entry gate, some are elaborate and some are very plain. Some of the fanciest gate entries lead to a very small, plain ranch house and some of the really simple gates lead to mansions!!! Here are a few of many that we saw on our ride. You will notice that you cannot even see the houses as these are huge ranches!

We finally happened upon a fantastic field of bluebonnets, the State Flower of Texas. They are beautiful and our pictures do not do them justice……IMG_2180

and we found them of all places at the rest area on US 90 .

Bluebonnets are really pretty and we had a great time taking all the pictures we could of them.
