Today a group of 39 folks from Lone Star Corral went into San Antonio to tour the Toyota Production Plant. At this time this plant is producing Toyota Tundra trucks but soon will be adding the Tacoma model to their line.
Factory tours have always fascinated me and this tour was not a disappointment. Sorry, they did not allow pictures inside the production area so the pix included here are of the group in the museum area only.
We all had to sign in and show a picture ID.
One of the dexterity tests before hiring, you have to complete this “rope wrapping” exercise in less than 6 seconds. As you can see this guy will not be hired!!!
Phil and Jan said “do what with this rope”?
Team Texas…………..!!
Bill and our friend, Len, with the Toyota race truck.
This is the whole group on our tour, except the photographer, me!!
But I managed to get into a later shot! Yep, that’s me the short one!!!
We were allowed to see the vehicle from the bare chassis through to the completed truck driven into the finish area. There are many, many workers involved in every part of the build, but there are also a lot of robots also. I could have stayed all day but they only allow 40 minutes for the tour.
In one assembly area, we watched a worker put a dash assembly in a truck every 65 seconds!!!! Wow!
I sure wish I could have taken my camera on the tour because to tell you about the experience is not the same as pictures to show the robots and the assembly lines. Maybe next time…..!
After our tour we all stopped for a late lunch at Sammy’s in Castroville on the way home to Hondo. It was great day and a good way to stay dry as it is still raining here in South Texas!!!

That winding rope thing looks fun. I've never been to an auto plant. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
