Ben and Jerry’s in Vermont

We started this site to share with you our travels around the USA, old and new. Today I would like to share with you one of our favorite places, Ben and Jerry Ice Creamery in Waterbury, Vermont. We stopped there in 2005 as we made our way up the East Coast to Nova Scotia.

We both love factory tours, but tours that end with samples of ice cream are the best. Ben and Jerry’s is not only informative, it is great fun!!

We all have been amused by the strange names for the flavors, but did you know about the flavors that didn’t make it, just died in the market and were buried?

In fact, on the hill overlooking the factory there is a cemetery for dead flavors, many of which I had never heard of before. There are actual tombstones complete with epitaphs to the dearly departed.

These are just a few of the many “dead flavors”, if you are ever in Vermont be sure to stop at Ben and Jerry’s for the tour and a great treat of ice cream.
